McRAE — Bond was denied Ronnie Adrian “Jay” Towns related to the murder of an elderly Marietta couple.  Towns has now been charged with malice murder and armed robbery in the deaths of Bud and June Runion.

Autopsy reports now state the couple was killed by shots to the head from a small caliber gun, based on the investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.  Authorities now believe Towns was the last person to speak with the Runions.

Their bodies were found in a rural, wooded area of Telfair County on Monday.

Towns, 28, was arrested Monday in connection with the missing Marietta couple.  He had been previously charged with giving false statements and criminal attempt to commit theft by deception in connection to the case.
