ATLANTA — The public affairs program Georgia Focus, heard on the Georgia News Network, has been awarded the 2014 NASRN News Award for Best Documentary from the National Association of State Radio Networks.

The program is hosted and produced by Valdosta State graduate John Clark, who also serves as Affiliate Relations director for the network.  The award was presented this week at the NASRN News & Affiliate Relations Directors conference held in Las Vegas.

“Though it’s a public affairs program we try to tell a compelling story that holds the listener’s interest and therefore keeps the topic in their minds” Clark said. “The particular show that won this award was an interview with Galadrielle Allman, daughter of Duane Allman, who wrote a book about her father who died when she was three. She has no memory of him so she researched and recreated his life and then put it into a book which is a fascinating work of musical history”.

Georgia Focus is a weekly Public Affairs program covering a variety of compelling, relevant topics and is carried by over 120 radio stations throughout Georgia.

Clark graduated in 1986 from the College of Fine Arts at VSU with a degree in Speech Communications.
