VALDOSTA — A tornado was reported by the National Weather Service in Tallahassee as touching down in Lowndes County Tuesday.

Around 2 pm Tuesday the tornado touched down for minutes at the Barrett Coody Road and Seckinger Road intersection near Clyattville.  Images provided by WALB show a tree uprooted, power lines down and other minor damage.  No injuries have been reported in Lowndes County.

Severe weather over the past week has brought heavy rain, localized flooding and other concerns.  Albany reported flooding and closed streets as of Wednesday morning, including advising drivers to stay at home on the busy Christmas Eve shopping day.  Further tornado warnings were reported overnight Tuesday in other parts of Southwest Georgia.
