Telfair County Prison Employee Arrested

MCRAE — In a joint operation, Anna Marie McDonald, 56-year old was arrested in Telfair County for bringing contraband into the prison she worked at. McDonald was charged with introducing prohibited drugs and intoxicants to Inmates and Crossing Guard Lines.

McDonald was caught with two 16 oz. water bottles containing tequila, 30, 10 mg. Amlodipine tablets (blood relaxers), and 400 cigarettes in vacuum-sealed bags.

In a WALB News 10 report, Chris Steverson, Telfair County Sheriff said, “There will always be those individuals who will risk their freedom, and everyone’s safety, for their own financial gain.”

“Although the vast majority of officers and staff working in our local prison systems are honest, hardworking individuals of the highest level of integrity, they must still remain vigilant in weeding out any who might succumb to corruption.”

McDonald is located at the Telfair County Jail with no set bond.
