Lowndes County Deputy Shooting Under Investigation

VALDOSTA – On Dec. 19, Charles McEady, Lowndes County Sheriff’s Deputy shot 52-year-old, Thomas Joslyn. Joslyn came out of his home and approached McEady with a gun; McEady then shot Joslyn in the leg.

Joslyn was transported to SGMC and reported to have non-life threatening injuries.

McEady was called to the scene with reports of an armed man with previous mental health issues attempting to commit suicide.

The case is now under investigation due to unknown knowledge of why McEady fired shots. The deputy is now on paid administrative leave while the investigation continues.

    If I were in the same situation as the officer and someone came out holding a gun I would take that as threat to my life and I would have done the same as the officer!. People need to realize the cops are not out to do us harm, they are out to serve and protect us from harm.
