CORDELE — Turner and Crisp County authorities are on the lookout for a suspect that may have committed bank robberies in Virginia and Georgia. The suspect is identified as Wayne Maurice Byrd who is thought to be committing the bank robberies with the help of his son who remains unnamed.  Both the Regions Bank in Cordele and the Colony Bank of Ashburn were targeted.

SPARKS — A suspect from Miami, Florida wanted in connection with the shooting of his wife as their children watched in horror has been captured in Cook County.  Law enforcement officers from the GBI and Sparks Police Department enacted the apprehending of Donald Strange. His wife died later in a Miami hospital.

ATLANTA — Georgia Governor Nathan Deal announced that net tax collections for October increased $87 million dollars, a 5.9% increase, compared to October 2013. Total tax collections totaled $1.55 billion. Year-to-date, net tax revenue collections totaled $6.24 billion, which represents an increase of $298.5 million, or 5 %, compared to the previous fiscal year, when net tax revenues totaled $5.94 billion after four months.

VALDOSTA — Investigators from the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search of the residence at 1112 Williams Street. This investigation was initiated after information was received from the public concerning suspicious activity at the home.  During this search, investigators located 206 grams of marijuana that was packaged from sale, 1.2 grams of Ketamine-a schedule 3 narcotic commonly used in medical procedures as a general anesthetic, scales, smoking pipes and assorted drug paraphernalia. Lindsey Glenn and Ryan Foskey were arrested.
