Deal’s Winter Task Force Drills on Tuesday

| November 16, 2014

ATLANTA — Having been caught unprepared last winter, Governor Nathan Deal is wasting no time in preparing for potential winter storm contingencies.

His Winter Task Force was formed last year after a lack of decisive action by state and local officials left hundreds of motorists trapped on metro Atlanta freeways, children stranded at schools, and created a multi-day freeze of the capital’s transportation system.

Tuesday, the task force will hold a mock snowstorm run to test recommendations put in place.  Working with the National Weather Service, the various response teams will be able to test procedures should another similar storm threaten the state and capital.
