CORDELE — No community is immune to gang-related activity, as Cordele learned recently.  Officers and investigators, however, have taken action resulting in indictments and arrests.

Shaquille Jackson, 21 of Cordele, was arrested Friday night in connection with the September murder of Jasperian Armstrong. He was taken into custody by the Tri-County Special Response Team, Crisp Co. Sheriff’s Office and the Cordele Police Department at Morningside Apartments in Cordele.

A grand jury last week returned indictments against Jackson for the Conspiracy to Commit Homicide and Criminal Street Gang Acts relating to Armstrong’s death.

Additional indictments were handed down on Kelvy Sherron Henton for the similar offenses. Henton was already in jail on unrelated charges.

Crisp County Sheriff Billy Hancock reported that Sheriff’s Office Investigators, along with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, arrested five people related to the murder of Armstrong.

While other charges are still pending, detectives are also still working on the unsolved murder of Ashley Garry, who was murdered in her home.

Anyone having information regarding these cases should call the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office at (229) 276-2600. You may remain anonymous, and be eligible for a reward.
