City Council Approves Alcohol Ordinance

VALDOSTA — Yesterday, Nov. 6, Valdosta City Council approved a new alcohol ordinance limiting the amount of alcohol served in the restaurants down town.

According to the agenda the ordinance states, “For locations within C-D zoning, the applicant Licensee, excluding Private Clubs as defined in this ordinance, must derive at least 50 percent (50%) of its total annual gross food and beverage sales from the sale of prepared meals or food.”

The ordinance will be effective on Jan. 1, 2015 for all new establishments and renewed 2014 licenses.
