TU Soccer Beats Oklahoma Baptist

140904 TU SoccerTHOMASVILLE — Thomas University Women’s soccer (1-2) (TSC 0-0) knocked off Oklahoma Baptist (1-1) 3-1 after coming off a tough weekend.

The Lady Night Hawks would draw first blood as Junior Mackenzie Dolan (1G) scores on a free kick at the 30 minute mark of the first half, putting TU ahead 1-0. Oklahoma Baptist would answer back after netting a goal during the 35th minute, knotting the game at 1-1 going into halftime.

During the second half, Thomas would shut the Bison’s down defensively, holding them scoreless for the remainder of the match. TU’s offensive would not settle for just one goal as Freshmen Sarah DiLoreto (1G) nets her first college career goal from Junior Adrianna Johnson (1A) and Bethany Chamberlain’s (1A) assisted ball, putting the Night Hawks up 2-1. In the 83rd minute of the game, Junior Jessica Straquadine (1G) extended Thomas University’s lead as she scores a goal from outside the box, eliminating hope from Oklahoma Baptist, stretching the lead to 3-1.

“We battled hard in the first half. We then re-organized in the second half as Sara-Ann Hartley solidified the defense,” said Head TU Women’s Soccer Coach, Julie Orlowski.
