Ethanol Plant Agreement; Crisp Death a Homicide; Charges Pending on Burglary

Ethanol Plant Agreement Reached

An agreement has been entered that will result in the sale of the Southwest Georgia Ethanol Plant. According to the report Flint Hills Resources offered to purchase the plant; the amount of the purchase was not disclosed. The plant stopped production in October of 2012 as the result of the drought that hit the area and rising corn prices. No start-up date was announced as officials are awaiting a drop in corn prices.

Death Ruled Homicide in Crisp County

The body of 27 year old Ashley Nicole Garry was discovered in her residence in Crisp County and the Sheriff’s Department is treating her death as a homicide. Co-workers and managers at the Cracker barrel became concerned when she did not show up for work and went to her home only to find the door open and her body inside. They notified the authorities. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has also been called in to assist with the case.

A weekend fire damaged a residence in Hahira displacing a family. Fighfighters from Hahira were able to extinguish the blaze and the family, two adults and two children managed to escape the fire without harm. According to the report the blaze started in a bathroom of the residence. The American Red Cross is assisting the family.

Charges Pending Related to Burglaries

A suspect wanted in connections to multiple burglaries has been arrested and charged and other charges against 35 year old Jason Grizzard are pending. He is suspected of burglaries in Lee, Mitchell and Thomas Counties. Some of his charges are felonies and he has been charged in the past in Florida on similar violations.
