Wiregrass Foundation South Receives Donation from Georgia Power Foundation

Wiregrass-TechVALDOSTA, GA – Georgia Power Foundation generously donated $5000 to Wiregrass Georgia Technical College Foundation South. This donation was made to support students and programs at Wiregrass Georgia Technical College.

Georgia Power has been a longtime support of workforce development through many programs at Wiregrass Georgia Technical College.  Over the years, Georgia Power Foundation has provided financial assistance for students as well as for programs such as the new engineering technology associate degrees aimed at building a highly skilled workforce for South Georgia. In addition, Georgia Power Company has sponsored the Gathering of Eagles leadership symposium, the Construction and Engineering Career Fair, Geekfest, and other educational programs.

Georgia Power’s Kevin McCraney stated, “The Georgia Power Foundation is proud to support the programs provided by Wiregrass Georgia Technical College to all the students in South Georgia. Their curriculum crosses traditional boundaries to collaborate with all of the educational institutions in our area and ensure we have a qualified workforce.”

Dr. Penelope Schmidt, Executive Director for Wiregrass Foundation South, stated, “We are very thankful for the partnership with Georgia Power and their Foundation. They are key partners in helping the College develop the workforce and prepare the local area for economic growth and development.”
