Valdosta Police Department Search for Burglary Suspects

| August 6, 2014

Valdosta-Police-Cars-1 VALDOSTA, GA – The Valdosta Police Department is currently searching for two suspects involved with a robbery on Wednesday morning.

On Wednesday at approximately 2:30 am, the Valdosta Police Department responded to 217 Beck Street in reference to the report of a robbery. Officers arrived and spoke Katelyn Bauer who advised them that at approximately 1:00 am, she heard a knock on her door, looked out, and saw a white male whom she is familiar with. Bauer indicated that the white male told her he was stranded and needed a ride. She indicated that she agreed to take him home and let him in while she went to get her shoes.

Bauer stated that when she returned to the front room, the white male had his hands raised and there were two African American males with guns. Bauer advised that one of the African American males asked her where the guns were and she showed them a safe in the back room. Bauer indicated that they made her open the safe and then stole several guns along with some ammunition, which belong to another resident, Marco Carlson, who was not there at the time. Bauer said that she and the white male were then forced to go into the bathroom and were told not to come out until the offenders were gone. Bauer advised that a few minutes went by before they came out and she discovered that her cellular telephone and wallet were also stolen.

According to Bauer, the two African American males had their faces covered during the incident. She described one as being light-skinned, approximately 6’4”, with a thin build and the other as being approximately 6’0” with a muscular build. Detectives with the Valdosta Police Department and a Crime Scene Technician with the Valdosta-Lowndes Regional Crime Laboratory responded to investigate.

No one was hurt during the incident and it is believed to have been an isolated occurrence. The Valdosta Police Department does have a person of interest in the case, but no names are being released at this time.

Anyone having any further information regarding this crime or any other crime is urged to contact the Valdosta Police Department at 229-293-3145 or can remain anonymous at 229-293-3091.
