Citgo Quick Mart Burglar Caught by VPD

Valdosta-Police-Cars-4VALDOSTA,  GA – The Valdosta Police Department has arrested one man accused of robbing the Citgo Quick Mart on St. Augustine Road.

On Tuesday night, at approximately 10:22 pm, the Valdosta Police Department responded to the Citgo Quick Mart, 1302 N. St. Augustine Road in reference to the report of someone breaking into the business. Officers arrived, checked the business, and found several cabinets and drawers that appeared to have been searched through. Officers then spoke to witnesses who stated that an older white male had shattered the front door and entered the business.

Witnesses gave a description and direction of travel for the offender. A Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit arrived on scene and tracked the offender to a wooded area behind the business. The white male was identified as Sidney Allen Smith. Smith was positively identified by a witness, he was arrested without incident, and transported to the Lowndes County Jail.

Valdosta Police Chief Brian Childress stated, “This case was solved by citizens coming forward and helping the police and good follow-up work by officers. We need more of this from citizens to help us keep our community safe.”
