Chamber Welcomes Planet Fitness to Valdosta Area

| August 15, 2014

Planet-FitnessVALDOSTA, GA – The Chamber Ambassadors were out in force to welcome Planet Fitness to the Valdosta community at its ribbon cutting on Thursday. Chandler Dabbs, one of the business’s managers, was pleased with the event’s turnout. “It was nice to meet people from the community and show them what we’re all about,” said Dabbs.

Planet Fitness is a top-rated gym with 829 locations across the United States. The gym offers all standard gym equipment in addition to specific workouts such as 30-minute express and 12-minute abs as well as extra cardio options. It is open 24-hours Monday through Friday and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Planet Fitness also offers two types of memberships: the standard membership for $10 a month and the black card membership for $20 a month.
According to Dabbs, the gym is best known for its judgment-free policy.

“A lot of our members are first time gym users,” said Dabbs. “We don’t cater to the bodybuilder types so as not to scare the newcomers off. We believe you should be able to work out whenever you want and however you want without being intimidated.”

As a result, Planet Fitness strives to keep a very comfortable environment for all users. In addition to its status as a judgment-free zone, the gym also stands out for its other amenities.

“We’ve got state-of-the-art locker rooms, changing rooms and showers for men and women,” said Dabbs. “We also sell water, Gatorade and Muscle Milk to our customers and have free bagels on the 2nd Tuesday of every month as well as free pizza days.”

The gym also offers tanning, massage chairs, and hydro massages free of charge for black card members.

Planet Fitness is located at 3200 N Ashley Street and can be reached at (229) 244-0084.
