| July 11, 2014

Slot-MachinesSYLVESTER, GA – The Worth County Sheriff’s Office said they have seized several illegal gambling machines in a raid, and expect to seize more according to a report by WALB.

A two-month investigation, independent of the recent Tift County investigation, resulted in the seizure of several machines this week. Worth County authorities recieved tips from concerned citizens who wanted to stop the gambling issue. Owners of both stores have been arrested, with charges pending.

Deputies seized seven machines at Sylvester Express, and are looking at the Soda Pop Shop.

Sheriff Jeff Hobby told WALB they will start working with the Tift County Sheriff to see if they can make progress in each case. He believes it could be a more serious issue in Worth County and statewide.
