Urgent Need for Blood and Platelet Donations

| July 23, 2014

American-Red-Cross-GenericVALDOSTA, GA – The American Red Cross has an urgent need for blood and platelet donors of all types to help prevent a blood shortage.

Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs a blood transfusion, and every day the Red Cross must collect 15,000 donations to meet the needs of patients. Over the past 11 week, donations through the Red Cross were down approximately 8 percent, resulting in about 80,000 fewer donations than expected. The number of donors continues to decline, and the shortfall is significant enough that the Red Cross could experience an emergency situation in the coming week.

Platelet donors and those with O negative, B negative and A negative blood types are especially needed. To find the nearest opportunity and schedule an
appointment, call 1-800-RED CROSS or visit red-cross-blood-dot-org.

If there is such an “urgent need” then why is it every time I call to schedule a donation Red Cross says they “don’t need platelets” or “we don’t need your blood type?”

The Red Cross is a huge scam.
