| July 23, 2014

american-flag-election-results VALDOSTA, GA – David Perdue has defeated longtime Rep. Jack Kingston for the Republican U.S. Senate nomination, leaving Perdue to face off with Democratic nominee Michelle Nunn.

Perdue is a former CEO making this his first bid for public office. He campaigned against Kingston as an outsider and called Kingston a career politician. Kingston was an 11-term congressman from Savannah. The Perdue-Nunn race will be one of the most critical match ups of the November midterm elections.

In local elections, Ellis Black lead John Page by 63 votes early Wednesday morning for the Republican candidate nomination for the District 8 State Senate seat. The provisional ballots will be officially counted on Friday declaring a winner. Clay Griner beat Norman Bennet for the D5 County Commission seat.

The official results from the election will not be released until Friday. Click here to see other election results.
