| July 25, 2014

SGMC-NursesVALDOSTA, GA – South Georgia Medical Center and its affiliates congratulate Hospice of South Georgia nurses Cheryl Kines, Kevin Moore and Margaret O’Berry for their recent credentialing as Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurses (CHPN, CHPLN). This is an exclusive level of certification that is offered by the National Board for Certification of Hospice and Palliative Nurses (NBCHPN). According to NBCHPN’s website, this is “the preferred credential for those who provide expert care in serious illness.”

Cheryl Kines (LPN, CHPLN) has worked as a licensed practical nurse since 1984. She began working at Hospice in February 2013 serving patients and families at the Langdale Hospice House.

Kevin Moore (RN, BSN, CHPN) earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from VSU in 2009.  He joined the Hospice of South Georgia team in February 2012 as a RN Case Manager.  Kevin now serves as the Nurse Manager of the Home Care Team.

Margaret O’Berry (RN, BSN, CHPN) also received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from VSU, and joined Hospice in January 2012 as an RN Case Manager.  She now goes out in the field as an Admission Nurse Specialist performing initial assessments and explanations for referred patients.

“We are very proud of our nurses earning National Certification in Hospice and Palliative Nursing.  This accomplishment is a great milestone in demonstrating their commitment and expertise in this specialty,” said Susan Bowden, Executive Director of Hospice of South Georgia and Langdale Hospice House.
