Business of the Week: McLane Funeral & Cremation Services

| July 9, 2014

Mclane-Funeral-HomeVALDOSTA, GA- Congratulations to McLane Funeral & Cremation Services, the Chamber Leading Business of the Week. McLane Funeral & Cremation Services began serving the Valdosta community in 1936 and has cared for and served families during a time of loss for over 75 years.

Britt McLane, president and senior funeral director, feels that the amount of dedication and commitment that the entire staff puts into each client’s arrangements is what has made the business such a success. “Our level of caring, professionalism and experience is unmatched,” said McLane. “We maintain a wonderful tradition of caring for generations of families in our area, but we are also continually striving to offer the highest value services and products to help families grieve and remember well.”

McLane Funeral & Cremation Services offers a wide array of service types, pre-arrangement services, grief support and memorials in honor of loved ones lost. The business has also extended these services into other Lowndes County communities and expanded the services offered to include beloved family pets in their new division, Pets At Peace.

McLane also believes his business’s membership with the Chamber of Commerce has positively influenced its success. “The Chamber has worked to keep our community healthy and growing for decades,” said McLane. “This has been very important in helping us grow our business over time. They have also helped us develop relationships with individuals and families all over our area, which is important to the individualized service that we seek to offer.” McLane also dubbed the Chamber a “strong voice and opportunity for community businesses and leaders to come together to discuss and develop our community.”

The Chamber would like to extend a special thank-you to New Hire Solutions, the official 2014 Sponsor of Leading Business of the Week.

    What do the leprechaun in green blazers have to say about this article;

    VALDOSTA — Data released by Bloomberg Rankings named Valdosta as the fastest-shrinking city in the United States.

    Last week, released a chart from the Bloomberg Rankings team that showed an estimated population drop in Valdosta from 57,706 in 2012 to 56,481 in 2013, a loss of 1,225 people. Bloomberg stated that the 2.12 percent drop made Valdosta the country’s fastest-shrinking city.

    Bloomberg’s data appears to be taken from estimates from the United States Census Bureau, but the rankings do not identify the source.

    The Census Bureau estimated that Valdosta’s population grew 5.4 percent from 2010 to 2012 but then declined in 2013.

    Census Bureau documentation states that the estimates are based on data from several sources including birth and death records, information from the Internal Revenue Service, enrollment numbers from Medicare and Medicaid and personnel numbers from the Armed Services, according to the Census Bureau.

    Valdosta is one of three Georgia cities listed. Albany and Macon are also on the Bloomberg Rankings. The list also includes major American cities, such as Detroit.
