Arrest Made in Shooting Investigation

Donnaille-JamesVALDOSTA, GA – The suspect in an early morning shooting has been arrested by investigators.

This morning at approximately 7:34 am a Valdosta Police Department (VPD) Patrol Officer located, Sharonda James, 40 years of age, of Valdosta, lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. First aid was administered by citizens and officers on scene. EMS responded and transported Sharonda to SGMC, where she was pronounced dead.

Witnesses saw a vehicle leaving the area. The vehicle was determined to be the victim’s and was later recovered after being abandoned by the offender. As a result of the investigation, Valdosta Police Department Detectives, obtained an arrest warrant for the victim’s estranged husband, Donnaille Lamar James, 40 years of age, of Cuthbert, Georgia, for Malice Murder.

At approximately 1:40 pm, Donnaille was arrested by agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in Cuthbert, without incident. The Valdosta Police Department appreciates all the assistance by the GBI, the Cuthbert Police Department, Cuthbert Probations, and the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department.
