| June 27, 2014

Georgia-Grown-OfficialATLANTA, GA – Completing Farmers Market Week here in Georgia, Gary W. Black has announced the Georgia Grown Showcase event will be returning on Saturday, June 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Atlanta State Farmers Market. The Showcase events are aimed at increasing the consumer retail experience at the Atlanta State Farmers Market (ASFM) as they bring together farmers and producers with consumers in the metro region.

“We have seen tremendous support from both producers and consumers of Georgia Grown products across the state for our showcase events,” Black said. “As we head into the summer season, the showcase is the perfect opportunity to pick up fresh, locally grown produce along with other items produced in our own state that you cannot find in stores. We would like to encourage everyone to come out and support our local producers.”

On June 28, Market visitors will find a wide range of locally grown seasonal fruits and vegetables, as well as pork, beef, poultry, olive oil, jams, jellies, barbecue sauces, honey, baked goods and other prepared foods. Visitors will find unique Georgia made soaps, candles, beeswax lip gloss, candy and more. In addition to Georgia produced goods, there will be activities for kids and adults such as cooking demonstrations, a tractor show and a kiddie train.

Located off I-75 in Forest Park, the 150-acre market is one of the largest of its kind in the world. Georgia Farmers Sheds 13 and 14 will be closed to through-traffic so visitors can park and walk through, mingling with vendors from across the state as they shop. Beyond the Georgia Grown Farmers Showcase event, visitors can take advantage of on-site garden centers, wholesale and retail shopping opportunities, restaurants and a Georgia Grown welcome center.
