Thomas University Presents First Peacemaker Award

Thomas-University-Peacemaker-AwardTHOMASVILLE, GA – Thomas University presented its first Peacemaker Award to two 2013 graduates whose community involvement has made them role models in relations between the U.S. and China.

Receiving the award are Xue “Winnie” Zhang (second from right) and Jihe “Tim” Tian (right). The couple came to Thomasville in August 2012 as part of a group of Chinese students to attend Thomas University and earn a Master of Business Administration Degree.

During their time in Thomasville, the two have also been very active in the community. The award was presented during a ceremony held Friday, May 2, inside Balfour Chapel on TU’s Main Campus.

Presenting the award are Dr. Gary Bonvillian (left), TU President, and U.S. Army Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Bernard Loeffke.

In addition to receiving a certificate, Zhang and Tian were also presented with a brick that will be placed in the newly established Peacemakers’ Circle located between Balfour Chapel and the Veterans’ Honor Park on TU’s Main Campus.
