Ain’t it the truth? All the while they are one of the lowest paying hospitals in the region. They are also one of the lowest rated amongst personnel polls related to pay, benefits, leadership. They keep hiring all these heads/directors/chiefs with a hefty paycheck and then they won’t give raises to staff, hire more people for understaffed departments (See E.R.), and limit overtime even going so far as to sending staff home from the E.R. with a packed lobby because “They had met their quota for the shift”. All it has led to is experienced staff leaving to go seek better financial opportunities out of the area (Because Valdosta sure doesn’t have any living wage jobs) and the hospital keeps hiring “green” nurses and others fresh out of school who leave as soon as the “2 years experience” is gathered to go somewhere else. The best part is how they keep “fluffing” themselves to the newspaper and community as if they are the best of the best by applying for obscure awards and programs to pad their resume’. I see people talk about “conspiracies” with the Sheriff’s Office and School board but if you really want to see conspiracies and corruption you need to dig deeper into S.G.M.C. and see how deep their rabbit hole goes because you would be surprised at all the hush money and pay offs they and their cronies have coughed up over the years.
