Express Employment Professionals gives $2000 to Wiregrass Foundation South for Scholarships

| May 6, 2014

Wiregrass-Georga-Tech-LogoVALDOSTA, GA – Express Employment Professionals will positively impact the lives of four Wiregrass Georgia Technical College (WGTC) students with their donation of $2000 to the WGTC Foundation South. This donation will provide four scholarships for students attending summer semester.

One of the key criteria of the scholarships is good work ethics. Walter Hobgood, Owner of Express Employment Professionals, stated “These scholarships are something I am passionate about. Most people who lose their jobs do so because of work ethics or soft skills. If we can make a difference in that, we can change the perception of our workforce.”

Tocsha Brown, General Manager, said “Coming from a technical background myself, this is what I love. I welcome the opportunity to give back with these scholarships because I know the importance of what WGTC offers. Some of the things that are as important as technical skills are a person’s soft skills.”

Bill Slaughter, Foundation Chairperson, agreed by stating, “As an employer, one of the best things about WGTC is the work ethics training offered to students. It is important for students to learn to go to school prepared and go to work prepared.”

Dr. Penelope Schmidt, Executive Director for WGTC Foundation South, stated, “We are so grateful for this donation and the opportunity to help four students complete their education with the scholarships. Donations like this help students enhance their skills, advance their careers, and create growth in our local economy. That is something that benefits everyone – students, their families, businesses and industries, and the entire community. We appreciate the partnership with Express Employment Professionals and look forward to continuing to work together.”
