brooks-county-school-system BROOKS COUNTY, GA – The Georgia Department of Education recently released the second College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI), based on data from 2012 and 2013 school years.

Brooks County scores from 2012 and 2013 were shared with Board of Education members at the May 13th Board of Education meeting.

As a district, Brooks County saw a +7.5 increase in their overall 2013 CCRPI score and was above the state average for the district. When compared with the twelve school districts in the Coastal Plains RESA area, Brooks County scored above eight of the districts.

Quitman Elementary increased their score by +20.3 from 2012 for a score of 77.8 points for 2013. North Brooks Elementary increased their 2013 CCRPI overall score by +3.7 for a score of 83.9 points. An increase of +4.8 was gained by Brooks County Middle School for a score of 73.3 points for 2013. Brooks County High School had a slight decrease from 2012 to 2013 with an overall score of 68.7 points.

Superintendent Owen Clemons stated, “We have been analyzing our CCRPI data at the district and school level. We will continue this process with a deeper analysis during the summer and will develop strategies that will continue to move our school district forward.”

The College and Career Ready Performance Index is Georgia’s statewide accountability system, implemented in 2012 to replace the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) measurement. It measures schools and school districts on an easy-to-understand 100-point scale, helping stakeholders better understand how schools are performing in a more comprehensive manner than the pass/fail system previously in place under AYP.

If you are interested in viewing the full report for the district and each school, the reports can be found on line at the Georgia Department of Education website.
