VSU-Pedestrian-MallVALDOSTA, GA – Valdosta State University will host its second annual Dr. Philip Gunter Faculty Author Reception at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, in the University Center Magnolia Room.

The reception will showcase scholarly activity completed by faculty members from various disciplines within the university. The reception celebrates the legacy of the late Dr. Philip Gunter, Valdosta State’s former provost and vice president for Academic Affairs.

“Dr. Gunter was a big supporter of faculty research and this event honors his support and provides faculty with a forum to display their scholarly works and publications,” said Dr. Darrell Ross, head of the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Criminal Justice. “This event is an opportunity to celebrate the faculty’s hard work, productivity and accomplishments in the scholarship area during 2013.”

This year 79 faculty members have submitted published works, which include 79 journal articles, 12 books, five book chapters and one music score. Faculty will also be displaying various types of art works during the event.
