Gangster Disciples Leader Arrested on Multiple Charges

| April 25, 2014

Ernest-Pete VALDOSTA, GA – On Thursday afternoon around 4:00 p.m., Investigators with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, Special Operations Division and the F.B.I. Southwest Georgia Gang Task Force arrested Ernest Eugene Pete Jr. after a brief, slow speed vehicle chase.

The chase was initiated due to Pete having warrants for his arrest issued in both Lowndes County and Fulton County, Georgia.

Pete was spotted on East Ann Street and investigators attempted to perform a traffic stop. Pete then fled and was eventually stopped in the 700 block of East Park Avenue where he exited the vehicle and brandished a firearm toward the deputies. Pete attempted to flee on foot but was quickly arrested which forced him to drop the handgun, a .25 caliber semi-automatic.

Following his arrest and during a search of Ernest Pete, investigators located a quantity of marijuana which was seized. Pete was transported to the Lowndes County Jail where he still remains.

Ernest Pete has previously been documented as the local gang leader of the Gangster Disciples organization. Investigators will be working with the United States Attorney’s Office in Macon seeking Federal prosecution of Ernest Pete.

Pete is facing the following charges battery, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, aggravated assault, violation of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism Act, obstruction of an officer, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and various traffic charges.

Sheriff Prine is asking that anyone with information on this case, or any other case to contact the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office at {229} 671-2950 or anonymous tips can be provided at {229} 671-2985 or on line at www.lowndessheriff.com.
