North Brooks Elementary School Students Participate in Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl Poster Contest

Fire-Safety-NBESBROOKS COUNTY, GA – North Brooks Elementary School had three hundred artists participate in the 2014 Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl poster contests.Three students won district awards in the contest.

In the fifth grade division, Madyson Astarb was the first place winner, and Ethan Touchton was the second place winner. In the third grade division, Humberto Santos-Hernandez was the first place winner. The contest is hosted every year by the Forestry Commission and the Garden Club. Students were presented awards by NBES art teacher, Jeanie Tyler, and Inday Bauer and Rosetta Coyne from the Camellia District Garden Club.

Participants were presented with a Smokey the Bear booklet by Ronald Bryant from the Georgia Forestry Commission.  Madyson’s mother, Michelle Hare, and Ethan’s mother, Becky Touchton along with his grandmother, Rosalee Touchton, were in attendance for the awards presentation.​
