VSU-PyschVALDOSTA, GA – World-class Jungian psychologist and storyteller Dr. Jonathan Young, left, led a two-day event at Valdosta State University Feb. 21-22.

On Friday, he presented a free public lecture to roughly 65 people, exploring mythology and folklore, specifically how stories and characters from Hans Christian Anderson can help all ages to find the right path and serve a worthy calling.

On Saturday, he led an all-day workshop for 100-plus mental health and social service professionals, students, and members of the community, discussing how the presenting material in a counseling session is a narrative and how a strong sense of life story can aid with adult developmental transitions. He is pictured with his wife, Anne, and Dr. Jackson Rainer, head of the Department of Psychology and Counseling at VSU. VSU’s Dewar College of Education and Human Services, in partnership with the Georgia Psychological Association and the Georgia chapter of the National Association of Social Work, sponsored the event.
