Woman Arrested in Valdosta for Stealing Mail

Tracey Mobley VALDOSTA, GA – The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office arrested a woman in Valdosta for stealing mail out of local mailboxes.

According to a press release issued Tuesday, on Sunday, January 12, a resident on Pine Needle Drive noticed someone looking through their mailbox and immediately notified authorities. Deputies soon tracked down the vehicle matching the description given by the resident. The driver of the vehicle, 42 year old Tracey Mobley, was questioned by deputies, and she stated that she was lost and was checking the mail boxes to determine where she was at. Authorities then searched her vehicle and found approximately sixty pieces of mail intended for various recipients, none of which were Mobley.

She was arrested and taken to the Lowndes County Jail. She is being charged with theft by taking and driving with a suspended license. According to Sheriff Prine, the investigation is still ongoing as they attempt to contact the victims of the missing mail, and try to determine what Mobley intended to do with the information from the mail. Investigators have also contacted the Postal Inspectors and are working closely together.
