Suspected Sex Offender Escapee Caught in Thomas County

jail bars arrested THOMAS COUNTY, GA – The search for a Thomas County jail escapee ended last night.

Authorities say 35 year old Charles Nix is back behind bars after being on the run for nearly 14 hours. Nix escaped the Thomas County Jail yesterday morning around 7:00 a.m. and lead authorities on a day long man hunt. Nix was arrested and charged in December 2013 for aggravated sodomy, aggravated child molestation, two more counts of child molestation, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Nix was found in Thomasville at the corner of Pinetree and Glenwood. US Marshals and Thomas County authorities used a thermal imaging device to find Nix hidden under leaves.

Authorities are still investigating the case, and will release more information at a later date.
