Peanut Yields to be Better Than Projected

| November 14, 2013

peanuts TIFTON, GA – Peanut production may not be as high as last year’s record setting season, but it will still be higher than expected. Last year’s peanut crop produced 4,550 pounds per acre, beating the state record. This years crop may not reach 4,000 pounds, but the final yield statistics may easily top the 3,600 pound figure reported in 2011. It was feared the rainy weather during the summer may have washed away many portions of farmer’s peanut fields. Reports are low of this being the case, and some farmers are saying the rain helped their crops to exceed normal growth.
