Correctional Officers Hospitalized After Prison Attack

prison-walls-barb-wire LIVE OAK, FL – Five Suwannee Correctional Institution Officers were hospitalized after an attack at the prison on Monday, October 28th. The five officers suffered stab wounds from homemade weapons crafted by the inmates. The Department of Corrections said all five of the officers returned to work Tuesday. The prison is located just outside of Live Oak and house adult men with a capacity of 1505.

A similar incident occurred in April when an inmate stabbed and attacked an officer with a lock attached to a laundry bag. The prison is not releasing much information about the incident, only that it occurred in the prison yard.
