Braves Beat Nats, Magic Number Down To 24

Valdosta Today - BravesAfter taking 2 of 3 from the Washington Nationals over the weekend, the Atlanta Braves are one step closer to clinching the NL East. The┬áBraves are now 19-3 in their last 22 games, bolstered byJulio Teheran’s 1.75 ERA over his last 6 starts.

As of August 19th, the Braves have a ‘magic number’ of 24 (combination of Atlanta wins and Washington losses). The Cincinnati Reds currently hold the MLB record for the quickest clinching of a division (September 7, 1975), one that the Braves could threaten.

The Braves head to New York on Tuesday for a two-game series with the Mets, while the Nationals take on the Cubs.
