Hawks’ Josh Smith Bolts For Detroit, $56 Million

basketball and courtThe Hawks’ leading scorer in each of the past two years has left in free agency to join the Detroit Pistons. The Pistons signed the 27-year old to a 4-year contract worth $56M.

Smith averaged 17.5 points, 8.4 rebounds and 3.8 assists for the Hawks last season. That signing is expected to become official on Wednesday. As of now, the Pistons are not involved in a sign-and-trade with the Hawks, whom Smith is leaving after nine seasons.
