Record Highs To Fall This Week?

| June 10, 2013

white thermometer outdoorValdosta, GA- A check of the week’s forecast and a look at the mercury in the thermometer may look like what we’re used to seeing in August…but not the second week of June.

According to the Weather Channel, Valdosta’s forecast highs for Tuesday (97) and Wednesday (98) could approach some record highs that have stood for nearly 100 years.

The all-time record high for Tuesday, 101, was set way back in 1915. Wednesday’s all-time high of 102 came shortly after in 1920.

Health officials remind people to avoid prolonged exposure to heat and sunshine if at all possible when the mercury climbs near 100; and if you must be outside, to hydrate yourself accordingly.
