3 Dead In Irwin County After Semi Hits Ambulance

police lights blurLaw enforcement officials are reporting at least one person has died following a two-car wreck in Irwin County Thursday morning. A semi struck an ambulance while traveling on Highway 22 around 7am.

According to the GSP, the semi jackknifed when it attempted to pull over for the ambulance, causing the emergency vehicle to strike the left side of the trailer.

Two EMTs in the truck, 44-year old Teresa Davis and 56-year old Randall Whitton, were pronounced dead at the scene. The patient inside, 65-year old Charles Smith, also died in the crash.
