Lakeland, FL Woman Dies In I-75 Wreck Near State Line

FHPTroopervehicle editHamilton County, FL- A Thursday night wreck on I-75 has claimed the life of a Lakeland, FL woman. According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a semi truck encountered a mechanical failure in the northbound lanes of the interstate around 9:30 Thursday night.

The truck’s drive shaft sheared and dropped in the road, causing 72-year old Josephine Brown to strike it with her 1997 Cherokee. Her SUV struck the guardrail and came to rest in the left lane. She stepped out of her vehicle, only to be struck by a passing Nissan pickup.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Nissan did not suffer any serious injuries.
