Gov Deal: I Will Not Endorse Wilcox Integrated Prom

| April 13, 2013

GA state capitolIn an email to a Macon TV station, a spokesman for Governor Nathan Deal said the governor will not endorse nor support the push to hold an integrated prom in Wilcox County.

Spokesman Brian Robinson said that the Governor refuses to support the county school system’s first-ever integrated prom, despite urging from a number of civil rights groups.

Robinson wrote to WMAZ that the push to have the integrated prom is perpetuated by “a¬†leftist front group for the state Democratic party and we’re not going to lend a hand to their silly publicity stunt.”

A bipartisan group of seven Georgia lawmakers have already issued statements in support of the Wilcox students.

I would support the wishes of the students. If the students want to have an integrated prom lets allow them to have it. Lets stop acting as if we are still living in the 1950s. Shame on you Gov Deal. Why do we have to make this a political issue. This have nothing to do with a leftist group. Thats only an excuse to hide your true feelings.
